Relevance
The Atomic Bomb is still significantly related to the United States of America and our current way of life in many ways. It was the first use of a nuclear weapon in warfare, and to this day is still the only use in history. The use of the Atomic Bomb led to an arms build up with the USSR, which was known as the Cold War. In this "arms race" a great amount of nuclear weapons were created and stockpiled. This was a frightening occurrence and and inspired other countries such as India, Pakistan, Great Britain and North Korea also to make and test nuclear weapons. North Korea is in fact currently threatening countries such as Japan, South Korea and the U.S with their "power" and ability to use nuclear weapons. This has created significant tensions in the U.S and throughout the world.
IB Profile
This topic represents a number of IB traits. One of which is to be Reflective. The U.S and Japan to this day reflect on the horror that went along with the dropping of the Atomic Bomb, and how it harmed and or benefited us in certain ways. Personally, I have embodied the trait of an Inquirer because I asked a question and researched a great deal of information to find the answers.
